Sorting and Stowing

Progress has been made. Other than the ‘candy cane tree,’ all of the stuff has finally made it downstairs. Most of the lights have been put away. Many will not be used again, due to the fading of the colors. Most of the red, blue and green strands that have a couple years or more of use are sufficiently faded to warrant replacement. Silly to use four different color strands, just to have them all look white 🙂 Now I have to decide whether to stick with incans or go to LEDs for next year.
The controllers and SSR’s are all packed away, and ready to go next year. They’ve been amazingly durable. I have ordered all the pieces and parts to populate the boards I purchased last month. They will add 64 more channels for next year, bringing the total to 304 channels. I also ordered one more 24 channel board as well, primarily as a backup for now. The new controllers will add a little versatility to my layout, and I hope to have a few (thousand) less feet of various cable in the yard next year 🙂
The candy cane fence will probably be different next year, as the ‘chili light’ strands have started to drop out and aren’t readily available. They were a great garage sale find, and have worked well the last two years, but their time is up. I’m not sure what to use for the fence next year, but I have a few ideas. I have more candy canes, in red, white and green, so I have some simple options, as well as some other ideas. We’ll see.
I am doing some research on methods of lighting coroplast, as the display elements that I have made from it now always get positive feedback. I think this is primarily because they are different. After looking at a bunch of lights, that last thing you want to see is another yard full of Walmart stuff 🙂
I guess that’s it for now.
