I have yet to finish pulling all of the lights down, but I have made my first acquisition of new items for this year’s display: the pcb’s for two 8 channel controllers and two 24 channel controllers. The next step will be to secure parts to populate them. I plan to put one of the 8 channel units to use with my year-round yard lighting, just to make it a little more interesting 🙂 The others will be used for a little more versatility in the Christmas display. I don’t really need a whole lot more channels right now, unless I decide to go the pixel string route, which will necessitate a different style of controller all together, as the channel numbers jump into the thousands.
I want to publicly thank my friend Jason Erman for his (unsolicited) help taking down a large portion of the display while I was still ‘one-handed’ to some extent. All I have left to do is remove the garland and lights from the front porch railing, then sort and pack everything that has already made its way into the garage and basement.
I mounted a spotlight at the base of my flagpole, and finally put the pole to its anticipated use by hanging my US flag. I like the way it looks, and will post a picture as soon as I can get one.
Yard sure looks different without all that stuff out there 😀
